King of the Birds, Lord of the Skies

King of the Birds, Lord of the Skies
Gather ye rose buds while ye may, old time is still a flying;
and this same rose that you see today, tomorrow will be dying.

Life Consists of ...

Life consists in what a man is thinking of all day.

Be on Higher Ground!

"If you desire certain traits, desire to maintain a certain character, then the only way to achieving this state of being is to be it through performing actions that coincide with that state.

If you wish to be just you must perform just actions, if you wish to be strong you must perform with strength. Too many of us spend time wondering 'why not?' without realizing that in those moments of contemplation we could very well be performing the very actions that would make us into what we believe we may not be.

To reach higher ground, simply lift another person up. We experience the lightest step when we relieve ourselves of the weight we choose to carry around with us."

-John Kanary

Health is a Choice

"The first wealth is health."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live."
-Jim Rohn

Health & energy, our two most prized assets (besides time) is at stake. Taking care of ourselves can seem daunting. When does anyone have the time to manage & maintain our level of energy & health these days? How do some find the determination?

Well, we can spend time asking these questions, or developing a laundry list of reasons why we are too busy. Truth is: our health is totally in our hands & this is a key factor in our lives' momentum. We must be healthy beings to have healthy lives. Eat well, think well, rest enough, enjoy activities & drink occasionally!

It's all in your choices. Do it or don't; don't try to be healthy. It won't work cost our mind don't really recognize the word "Try".

Learn to Surrender - Let Go, and Let God.

Each and every day when we wake up, we have a choice; our progress can be a struggle or not. Most people view their current circumstances (eg., difficulty with boss, children's school grades, etc..) as an obstacle, as something to be overcome, rather than the reality of their situation. This leads to a great deal of conflict and struggle, wherein the conflict is really with the Self.
We can choose to cease this fight with a change in our perspectives and attitudes. Learn to surrender.
Accept reality on its own terms, thereby conquering our inner mountain and releasing ourselves to a greater purpose.
Any circumstance that seems to be a conflict or struggle is always a matter of attitude or perspective first, and once we learn to conquer ourselves, we have learned to release ourselves to the world and change our reality. Reframe our worldviews, and stop laying unrealistic demands on our own back. What value there is if you conquer the world but lose your soul?
Surrender your day and this coming week to the Almighty's hand.

"The first and the best victory is to conquer self."
-Plato

"Conquering any difficulty always gives one a secret joy, for it means pushing back a boundary-line and adding to one's liberty."
- Henri Frederic Amiel

Man has set for himself the goal of conquering the world but in the processes loses his soul.
- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.

What I Find to Be Most Romantic

I remember I used to take the public transport when I just finished school and started work. As usual, in the mornings I would take the East bound train to work. Getting into the crowded cabins at Lakeside was never an easy task. Especially when u have to stand all the way to Raffles Place.

This very morning, I sleepily stood in one of my usual cabins, with hands hanging on the railings supporting the rest of my languid body. Before long, I was abt to witness a scene so endearing and vivid that it remained forever in my memory.

There's this couple sitting just across from where i stood. Both of them were holding hands. Soon after, the gal drifted off to sleep while locking her arms around the guys' waist. He sort of provided support with his broad shoulders for her dainty head to rest.

Before long, he too began to slumber. A while later, she woke up. Seeing that he was still in dreamland, she smiled at his countenance, with his eyebrows knitted in a funny fashion. Somehow, he could sense that she was watching him and began to awake.

She began tapping her fingers gently on his knee, once, twice, thrice. He nodded with approval, as though understanding what she meant.

They looked into each other's eyes, and soon a smile began to form on both their faces. She then whispered into his ears. He couldn't really contained his laughter, with both now smiling sheepishly and smiling, even grinning from ear to ear.

Nothing unusual abt this scene, perhaps u might have seen it all the time. Just two more facts to add to this story.

His hair was already grey, with brilliant streaks of grey and white. Lines abound along his face, cracks too have made homes there. His used-to-be lithe frame now carries his 60 yr old body with much more fragility, much more carefulness. Hands strewn with sinews and veins protruding, he could have been working hard all this life.

Her hair, though long .. was pure white as snow. Eyes which might have been bright, now seemed dim in comparison. Wrinkles too can be found on her faintish countenance. U could just make out her dainty frame, she might have been pretty when she was young, with a terrific figure to match.

Well, to me, what I find to be most romantic is to be able to grow old together with that someone u truly love. Love takes time, to cherish, to nourish, to cultivate. And if u give love a chance, u will definitely reap what u have sown.

"The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them with our own image - otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect."
