When I was young, I was told the importance of getting organized in life. The management gurus of my days did that through a watchword called PRIORITY. Yes, one guru called this prioritising process First Thing First. How to go about your day? Prioritize.
The Focus is on doing what's important and urgent. A Valency-Ordering Model.
Later, when I was much older, the watchword seemed to shift to this term called BALANCE. It is a paradigm of holding two or more tensions of equal importance, without gravitating to any one force alone. The Focus is on doing the all the right thing the right way at the same time. An Extreme-Avoidance Model.
I humbly back to differ on the above two models as the only two platforms for ordering your world, public or private. There is, in my opinion, a third Model: A Relationship-Driven Model. The watchword is CENTREDNESS. The Focus is on the connectedness you exhibit with the surrounding. Don't forget about Priority and Balance, though. Just stop focusing so much on these overly used words. They are over-rated sometimes. Instead, Centredness got to do with three very important concept:
1. Congruence:
Everywhere you are - whether it be at work, with your partner or with friends - be your true self. When you compartmentalize yourself to be wildly different in different circumstances, you start to feel out of whack. Create a life that is congruent with who you truly are.
2. Connection:
Everywhere you go, be in the moment. Don’t spend a lot of time in your head, thinking about your past and future. Be fully engaged, so you feel alive, and not like you are sleepwalking through life.
3. Contribution:
Ask yourself how you can be the best you to the people around you. Make your heart your motivational center - not your ego. When you feel you have something to give and are giving it, you feel instantly happier and like life is in flow.
These then contribute to what I call CENTREDNESS - it centres on the relationship you have with the situation, the moment, and the people. You are drawn towards a relationship with the here and now, with the people. When we rub these 3 very important watchwords together, we will experience a change in perspective, a paradigm shift.
What are you centred upon today?

Don't need me to edit this entry la, it's good enough as it is. A few thoughts though. I like the idea of Relationship-Driven Centredness. But my unfamiliarity with management theories begs the question: What is Valency-Ordering Model har? I check dictionary already still don't understand leh. How?
Yeoh Siao Kia,
Thks for reading thru...though u really didn't "jok kang". me not familiar either, but such watchwords have been bothering me for years. I actually anyhow coined the word Valency***. To me, it means a process of assigning importances to activities or events so as to achieve a certain degree of order in life.
