King of the Birds, Lord of the Skies

King of the Birds, Lord of the Skies
Gather ye rose buds while ye may, old time is still a flying;
and this same rose that you see today, tomorrow will be dying.

The Parable of 3 Hymns

The Sunday before Christmas, a pastor told his congregation that the church needed some extra money. He asked the people to consider donating a little more than usual into the offering plate. He said that whoever gave the most would be able to pick out three hymns.

After the offering plates were passed, the pastor glanced down and noticed that someone had placed a $1,000 bill in offering. He was so excited that he immediately shared his joy with his congregation and said he'd like to personally thank the person who placed the money in the plate.

A very quiet, elderly, saintly looking lady all the way in the back shyly raised her hand. The pastor asked her to come to the front. Slowly she made her way to the pastor. He told her how wonderful it was that she gave so much and in thanks asked her to pick out three hymns.

Her eyes brightened as she looked over the congregation, pointed to the three most handsome men in the building and said, "I'll take him and him and him."

Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda

A Poem titled: "Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda"

All the Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
Layin' in the sun,
Talkin 'bout the things
They woulda-coulda-shoulda done...
But those Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
All ran away and hid
From the one little did.

Do you remember being a kid & how tenacious you were especially when you wanted a new toy or you wanted to go somewhere? Do you remember how you asked your parents time & time again for what you wanted? Do you remember not giving up? I did that before; my 3-year-old son sure do too.

Imagine if you could harness the same energy & tenacity now as an adult. What goals would you be able to achieve if you applied the same energy for your goals & dreams? You most likely will attain & complete your goals & maybe live out your dreams.

You do not want to be on your deathbed thinking about all the things you could have done, would have done & should have done. I have decided now to begin living my dream. Fact is: You will be much happier that you did do something. Because doing something is better than doing nothing.

I will construct small goals & complete them. Make small consistent changes & over time you will have changed your life. For a start, this are my immediate list:

1. Sign up for Scuba Diving lessons by June 07.
2. Prepare for Mt Kinabalu in Sept 07.
3. Re-design my children room.
4. Catch up with my reading list.

Setting the Bar High

If you are tired of baby steps, take a look at the goals you set. Are you setting goals that are easy to achieve? Are you creating a safe bet? We all need the affirmation of short term victories, but we must also set our sights beyond the comfortable notions we are used to, set our sights on something much greater than what we may know.

It is through the seemingly impossible that we experience the greatest drive. Don't be afraid of being overly-ambitious or setting the bar too high, that you might never complete your mission; your mission is never really complete until your life is.
